For more than fifty years, Elgie Bus Lines Ltd. has provided safe and reliable school bus transportation to the school children of London, Middlesex and Oxford counties. Founded in West Nissouri Township (now part of Thames Center) in 1951 by a farmer named Stuart Elgie, our company’s ethics of honest and dependable service began with our first nine passengers who were driven to and from school by Stuart’s wife, Marguerite, in a converted parcel van. Within eight years, the company expanded to include four school buses servicing several local routes.
In July of 2008, Elgie Bus Lines Ltd. was acquired by Student Transportation, Inc. (“STI”), a leader in the North American school bus transportation industry. STI recognized Elgie’s local reputation for superior service, and shares many of the same family values that Stuart Elgie had when he started the company.
Today, Elgie Bus Lines Ltd. operates more than 200 school buses and is proud to provide school bus transportation to more than 10,000 pupils across the greater East London area. We also provide transportation to Special Needs pupils and adults, and provide extra-curricular and charter trip services. Our drivers receive regular training and are of the utmost character, and we ensure that our buses are kept in excellent mechanical condition.
